Woodrow High House – Important Update

6th July 2020

Year 4 Residential Trip, Woodrow High House

Monday 28th September – Wednesday 30th September 2020

and

Wednesday 30th September – Friday 2nd October 2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

Unfortunately, we are now trying to reschedule our trip to later in the academic year as overnight residential trips are not allowed in the Autumn Term as stated in the the new published guidance for September 2020.

Guidance from Government – Educational visits:

We continue to advise against domestic (UK) overnight and overseas educational visits at this stage: see coronavirus: travel guidance for educational settings

In the autumn term, schools can resume non-overnight domestic educational visits. Therefore, we need to postpone Woodrow High House until Spring or Summer 2021.

Please do not make any further payments at this time.

If you have recently withdrawn your child from the September rescheduled trip, you will be able to choose whether to send your child on the new date or withdraw. Please note that the rescheduled trip will only be open to parents or carers, who originally paid a deposit.

We will contact you when we have more details regarding the trip. Thank you for your patience and continued support.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Yours faithfully,

Mrs Streeter                                             Mrs Bignell

Year 3 and 4 Phase Leader                     Deputy Headteacher

End of Year Celebration Task (6th July)

Health and Wellbeing Video

As we reach the end of the school year, we would normally celebrate the fantastic year the children have had and do tasks in schools about this. This year, we would love for you to create a mood board of all the things you are proud of from this year or your favourite memories. You might include pieces of work, kind things you did or said, memories of you helping others, new friendships that you made, prizes or awards that you won or things that you really enjoyed.

It can include pictures that you have drawn as well as writing to caption your drawings.

Teacher Messages (3rd July)

Hi 4R!
You can see from my picture that even though I can’t go to Nando’s, I’ve manage to bring my favourite restaurant to me! It was delicious and made me happy.
I hope that you guys have been working hard and still managed to have a nice week even though the sun hasn’t been shining as much!
Keep happy and safe 🙂
Miss you all so much!
Miss Rubey
Hi 4F!! 🙂
I think myself and Miss Rubey had the same idea to treat ourselves this week!! I also treated myself to a Nando’s and let me tell you it was amazing! Definitely worth the months of waiting!! It made me very happy too!! I hope that you are all well and enjoying your time at home. I have loved speaking to you this week, hearing your voices really cheer me up! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and get to do something you enjoy!
Missing you lots, Miss Fernandez
Hi 4L,
I miss you lots, so it was very nice to talk to you all over the last couple of weeks and hear what you have been up to. A few of you told me about some books you have been reading, so I have tried out a few of your recommendations and I have enjoyed them a lot! The one I am reading in this picture was one of my favourites.
Have a lovely weekend and keep safe.
Mrs Stockwell
Hello 4S,
I hope you are all enjoying being at home and aren’t missing school too much! I was so excited at the weekend because I was able to see my family for my nieces 2nd birthday!
I hope that you’re making time to do things that you enjoy with your families too!!
Keep Safe!
Miss Sillett 🙂
Hi 4E!

Yesterday evening, I opened the door to the best delivery ever! I would like to say a huge thank you for my gifts! You have been very generous, and I am so grateful! I feel so lucky and loved! Thank you so much! I cannot wait to enjoy some of my goodies, and the little kicks inside my belly are telling me the baby is looking forward to using his presents too! I‘ve loved finding out about all the great things you’ve been busy doing over the past few weeks. Keep up the amazing work!
Miss Emans 🙂

Woodrow High House

Monday 28th September – Wednesday 30th September 2020

and

Wednesday 30th September – Friday 2nd October 2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

I am pleased to tell you that the trip to Woodrow High House will go ahead in September 2020 unless government guidelines change. The new dates are Monday 28th September – Wednesday 30th September 2020 and Wednesday 30th September – Friday 2nd October 2020 when the children are in Year 5. The trip has been split due to Woodrow High Houses risk assessments and social distancing guidance.

We can now take final payments up until the deadline date Friday 11th September 2020.

The procedures that Woodrow High House have put in place are:

  • Single group occupancy – We will be the only group staying onsite during this time (this will remain the case regardless of any updated government guidance).
  • We allocate the children into bubbles 12 – 15 children.
  • Greater continuity of instructing staff will be in place and this will limit the number of people in direct contact with our group. Woodrow have up to 6 staff members they are able to allocate to our group.
  • Bedroom capacity – As we are the only group staying onsite, we will be able to make use of more bedrooms, allowing us to space out appropriately. In total, Woodrow have 23 bedrooms, which splits into 18 children’s rooms and 5 teacher bedrooms.
  • All lounge areas can be used to help keep bubbles at an appropriate distance.
  • Restrictions on dining room capacity with appropriately staggered meal sittings will be in place. Three bubbles will eat in the dining room at once, therefore there will be two meal sittings, with a break in between in order to clean. Each bubble will be allocated a table that they will sit at for every meal throughout the residential.
  • A later arrival time is in place for the second group of the week (Wednesday – Friday). An arrival time of 12pm, with a packed lunch as usual. This group will be based in the sports hall (which is large enough to seat 200+ people, therefore bubbles can still be in place and spaced appropriately) until the evening when they will be able to enter the house for the talk and tour. The group will still be able to participate in outdoor activities on the Wednesday afternoon. These measures are in place to ensure the house can be deep cleaned.
  • There are adaptations to the activity programme to consider transition times and use of equipment, as well as avoiding groups gathering during breaktimes in common areas such as the bathrooms and water taps.
  • Increased cleaning and disinfecting of the building and equipment during our stay, and a full clean will occur between group visits.
  • Increased hygiene awareness for all participants and increased opportunity for hand washing/ sanitization.

If you choose to withdraw your child from the trip, you will lose your deposit as per the policy. If you wish to withdraw your child from the trip, we will need this in writing via email by 17th July 2020. If we do not receive notice of your choice to withdraw your child in writing by 17th July 2020, you will be liable for the full payment of the trip.

Unfortunately, as this is a rescheduled trip, we cannot accept any additional children.

In the autumn term, we will provide more information and schedule a parent meeting in September to go through the final details. A kit list and confirmation of the full programme will be given out at the meeting, and will be available on the Year 5 blog for those unable to attend.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Yours faithfully,

Mrs Streeter                                             Mrs Bignell
